Last March 19, 2011, Iraya turned 25! It was a great day which started with a Holy Mass in honor of St. Joseph (March 19 is his feast). Dr. Cla Floresca, one of the residents was also celebrating her birthday. There was a flurry of activities in the morning. Gela and Bea Zapanta came to work on the posters showcasing the activities in the Center for the past 25 years. Janice and her friend Viv were putting the finishing touches of the video which will be presented during the program. Some students came to spruce up the place. Revi and her friends were preparing the food. Morning passed so quickly. Our guests, former residents, friends and their friends started to arrived. A meditation was preached by Fr. Carlos Estrada, the Regional Vicar of Opus Dei in Philippines. He also officiated a solemn Benediction to thank God for his endless graces. Then we all trooped to the living room for a get-together with guests Dr. Daisy Lopez who talked about the first years of Iraya, Dr. Mae Joy Campo and Dr. Liza Manalo who talked about the formation they received in the Center. They also narrated how they discovered their vocation to Opus Dei. Cynthia Africa on the other hand talked about some of her apostolic initiatives. Lorrie Anda was the host. Refreshments were served in the patio while everyone had a great time sharing happy memories of those wonderful 25 years which had influenced our lives and countless young women who had come to receive formation in the Iraya.
